Friends Stage

Malmö-based trio Spunsugar has been redefining shoegaze since 2019 with their gritty blend of post-punk, dream-pop, and industrial rock. Formed by Cordelia Moreau, Elin Ramstedt, and Felix Sjöström, the band draws from diverse musical backgrounds, merging influences from Cocteau Twins, Hole, and the Ramones. Their debut EP, Mouth Full of You, introduced their lo-fi, drum machine-driven sound, while their first album, Drive-Through Chapel (2020), expanded their sonic palette with darker, more atmospheric textures. The subsequent EP, Things That I Confuse (2021), delved into themes of trauma and regret, showcasing their evolving musical depth. In 2023, they released their sophomore album, A Hole Forever, which received critical acclaim for its exploration of internal shame and the complexities of adulthood. The album’s singles, including “It Never Gave Me Anything” and “San Jose,” exemplify their ability to blend introspective lyrics with dynamic instrumentation. With a growing international presence, Spunsugar continues to captivate audiences with their unique sound and compelling storytelling.
