how it all started

South Ocean Festival was founded by grammy nominated artist and entrepreneur Simon Andersson. Originally from Malmö, he wanted to create an experience in his hometown inspired by other events and festivals he had participated in internationally. The first edition was held In 2023 and was largely considered a great success featuring an impressive line-up from around the world.

We aim to build an international festival that celebrates music, culture, and connectivity—always with the audience experience at heart. By inspiring joy, fostering community, and promoting sustainability, we contribute to a stronger, more vibrant region.

Our ambition is to lead the way in event excellence, constantly evolving and setting new standards. Open to all, the festival offers a unique platform for both public enjoyment and corporate engagement. We bring world-renowned artists together with emerging talent to create unforgettable moments in Malmö’s most inspiring and stunning setting.
